Tim Molony, P.Eng.
Tim is an well known electrical engineer with over 35 years of utility experience in transmission and distribution facility design, installation and operation. Tim has wide experience in providing power equipment and materials engineering, evaluation of breaker capabilities, analysis and approval of breaker and switchgear type test reports, witnessing and approval of test results, supply chain management, design, installation, commissioning, testing and condition assessment services for HV and EHV switchgear.
View Extended CVProfessional Achievments
- Provided leadership of the Switchgear and of the Equipment Engineering department of Hydro One in supporting the specification, acquisition, installation and operation of HV circuit breakers and other station apparatus.
- Completed an asset condition assessment in mid 2003, of a third generation 550 kV GIS installed on the output of a nuclear generating station operated by a US utility.
- Acquisition, application and maintenance process for HV circuit breakers and other electrical system elements and equipment with the objective of achieving lowest life cycle cost in accordance with industry best practices.
- Successfully initiated efforts to reduce transformer station costs by integrating station switchgear and P&C equipment in a safe and cost effective manner.
- Succeeded in reducing costs of major electrical equipment by implementing cost effective acquisition processes such as strategic alliances, blanket orders, broadening competition and standardizing specifications and requirements.
- Managed CIGRE worldwide survey of GIS manufacturers and users in 1992 and published results, which established benchmark data for twenty five years of service experience of HV and EHV GIS.
